Broken Special Schemes

I’m at the Fyxx taking a few minutes away from home and looking after Pat. She’s mending, but very slowly. I suppose that’s par for the course for us retired oldsters. Slowly but surely. Anyway, I’ve been using the nursing as an (unwarranted) excuse for doing very little on my writing projects. The first draft of my second novel, The Tourist, has been in the hands of the publisher (Ray) and the editor (Alan) for a week or so. No word yet. My sister Janet also has a copy that she is loyally ploughing through. ‘Love is not love which alters when it alliteration finds’, to paraphrase Shakespeare.

On the music front, things are moving forward. I have started jamming with a new chum, Doug Gibb, who I met through
The Launch Pad Coffee House. As well, I was invited to be part of Songwriters in the Round (SITR) by the leaders of two other coffee houses - Lexx Jefferson of Gordie’s, and Scott McPherson and Jim Waterous (alias James Van Norman) of Happy Mike’s. SITR will feature the named individuals and me taking turns playing and singing our compositions, with help from the others. SITR happens at 7:30PM (doors open 7:00PM) on Wednesday August 18, at The Old Church, (old St. James Anglican at 525 Tylehurst) down by the Red, across Portage from Polo Park. I didn’t know it when I agreed to participate, but the show will have a $10 admission charge. Proceeds to charity. If you can swing it, please drop by.

Next up is the
Acoustic Jam and Sing-Along at The Launch Pad, at Churchill Park United Church, 525 Beresford Avenue at Nassau. This happens at 8:00PM (doors open 7:30Pm) on Wednesday, August 25.

Last, but first in significance - still haven’t heard the final word from Harper Collins about them picking up the national and international rights to
Except My Love For You. If they do, this blog will focus back on EMLFY, my first novel and the original reason for this blog.
